Review design drawings and traffic control plans for the Port of Tacoma Road Reconstruction Project Dec. 15.

The road is the main truck route into the Port industrial area and is in poor condition. This project will replace about 7,800 feet of the road from East 11th Street to Marshall Avenue with concrete to better withstand the heavy truck traffic. Construction is expected to begin next year.

Staff from the City, Port and SJC Alliance will be available to discuss the 90-percent design drawings and draft traffic control plan from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 15 in Room 104 of the Fabulich Center.

Traffic control plan

The draft traffic control plan has been developed with the businesses along Port of Tacoma Road.

The plan details the times when construction can occur, detour routs and the number of lanes that can be closed to keep businesses open and traffic moving during construction. The traffic control plan is expected to be finalized this month so it can be included in the project bid documents.
