Brenda Hauge stands with Port Commissioners Marzano, Keller, and McCarthy

Brenda Hauge is retiring after 36 years of service in the Port's Operations department. 

The Port of Tacoma Commission on October 24 approved a project authorization of $2.97 million for work associated with the Port Maritime Center to bring the project to 30 percent design by March 2024. The proposed location of the Port Maritime Center campus project is on Port-owned property along the Foss Waterway and will include Tacoma Public Schools’ new Maritime|253 skills center. Commissioners also approved an amendment to the second interlocal agreement with the school district to outline the payment reimbursement process for the initial design-build contract. 

Commissioners also approved a proclamation recognizing the second Monday in October as Indigenous Peoples’ Day and the month of November as Native American Heritage Month. 

Commissioners honored Brenda Hauge, who is retiring from the Port of Tacoma after 36 years of service.
