We’re bidding farewell to four of our older cranes after decades of service.

Work has begun to dismantle these structures at Husky Terminal and starting this month, you may notice large metal pieces being removed and lowered down onto the pier. Since 1989, these workhorses have moved containers, filled with import goods like shoes, toys and furniture, as well as valuable exports like apples, potatoes and hay.

Today, these cranes have reached the end of their useful life and are too small to serve the modern container vessels.

Shout-out to Harbor Industrial. (who also helped assemble our new, mega cranes in 2018 and 2019), ILWU Local 13, ILWU Local 22 and ILWU Local 23 for their work on this project.

The cranes’ spare parts have been surplused, and the metal pieces will be trucked to local metal recycling companies to be recycled. Stay tuned for more updates!
