Single-lane closures of SR 509 are expected to continue as crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation complete paving work on a portion of the highway through the Port industrial area.

Motorists can expect to encounter single-lane closures on SR 509 between Alexander Avenue East and Norpoint Way during the following timeframes:

Northbound:

  • 7 p.m. Thursday, July 10 to 5 a.m. Friday, July 11
  • 9 p.m. Friday, July 11 to 9 a.m. Saturday, July 12

Southbound:

  • 7 p.m. Sunday, July 13 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 14
  • 7 p.m. Monday, July 14 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 15
  • 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 16
  • 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 16 to 5 a.m. Thursday, July 17
  • 7 p.m. Thursday, July 17 to 5 a.m. Friday, July, July 18

Although WSDOT tries to minimize impacts to traffic during construction activities, the closures have caused delays and frustration for drivers. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.

Daytime closures expected

Several days of daytime lane closures are expected over the next few weeks to complete the sidewalk and electrical work. The daytime lane closures will be announced as they are scheduled.
