Paving and sidewalk work on State Route 509 by the Washington State Department of Transportation is expected to cause delays through the Port industrial area this summer.

Sidewalk work

WSDOT began work today on sidewalks at Alexander Avenue and Taylor Way. The work is expected to take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. over the next three weeks.

Paving work

WSDOT plans to complete paving work on SR 509 at night beginning in mid-July. The work will continue through August along these stretches of the road:

  • Northbound between Alexander Avenue and Norpoint Way
  • Southbound between Norpoint Way and Taylor Way

The traffic signals at Alexander Way and Taylor Way will likely be delayed or inoperable during the project.

Please use caution and expect delays when traveling through the area.
