Please visit the City of Tacoma's website for the latest information on the road closure and detour plans.

Rail Crossing #8

This crossing will be replaced beginning 12:01 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, through 5 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 22. Taylor Way will be completely closed just north of SR 509. Use SR 509 and the Hylebos Bridge to reach E. 11th Street.

Replacement work at Rail Crossings #9-10 is tentatively scheduled to begin in January 2021.

Work on SR 509

Watch for night work and lane restrictions along SR 509, including the installation of a temporary traffic signal at Taylor Way. BEGINNING THE WEEK OF JAN. 4, significant construction activity will begin along SR 509 and continue through the summer. The work will include roadway widening, utilities, paving and striping. Lanes may be shifted, as well as being reduced to one thru lane at night and/or on weekends. Electronic message boards along the roadway will note upcoming work. Activities resulting in limited access to Taylor Way or 54th Avenue East will be posted to this website.

Paving/Utilities/Road Closure

Watch for intermittent lane closures on Taylor Way from Lincoln Avenue to E. 11th Street. Local access will be maintained. Should the roadway be reduced to one lane, a detour will be in place via Lincoln Avenue and Alexander Avenue.
