Clean air, land use plan top Monday's commission agendaAt their meeting Monday, Dec. 9-please note the different day-commissioners will consider adopting new and revised goals for the Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy.
The collaborative effort by the ports of Tacoma, Seattle and Metro Vancouver, B.C., aims to reduce diesel emissions from maritime operations in the Georgia Basin and Puget Sound Airshed. The updated strategy includes revised emission reduction goals for 2015 and new goals for 2020.
Commissioners will also consider an interlocal agreement with Montana Department of Transportation to support the Great Northern Corridor connecting the Great Lakes to the Pacific Northwest, as well as a lease agreement and request to surplus property. View the agenda.
A study session on the Port's draft Land Use and Transportation Plan follows the action agenda. The plan is designed to guide development in the next 20 years, with a focus on the next decade.

Committee to review clean state audit report Dec. 12The Port Audit Committee will review the Washington State Auditor's 2012 Accountability Audit Report during their quarterly meeting Dec. 12.
The accountability audit is designed to affirm an organization's compliance with state laws and regulations, as well as its own policies and procedures. This year marks the seventh consecutive year in which the auditor's examination was completed with no findings. View the meeting agenda.

Transportation Club's holiday luncheon benefits food bankJoin the Transportation Club of Tacoma Dec. 9 for the Emergency Food Network Holiday Luncheon at the Tacoma Yacht Club.
The annual fundraiser begins at 11 a.m. with a silent auction. Lunch will be served at noon, with the live auction beginning at 12:30 p.m. Auction items range from food baskets and Seattle sport team tickets to vacation rentals and boat tours.
