July trade stats: Logs, intermodal lifts up

More than 172,000 tons of logs have been exported through the Port, according to July's year-to-date numbers. Intermodal lifts are also up 13 percent. Meanwhile autos and international containers continue to lag.

A diverse and growing gateway for trade

Located on Puget Sound in Washington state, the Port of Tacoma handles a wide range of cargoes bound to and from every part of the world.

More than 70% of the international container cargo comes from, or is going to, the central and eastern regions of North America. The Port also handles approximately 70% of the marine cargo moving between the Lower 48 and Alaska.
