Building on Tacoma's role as a major international center for trade and business, both the Port and City of Tacoma have established several international "sister" relationships around the globe. 

As independent governmental entities, the Port and City maintain separate sister relationships, but they have the same aim: To foster greater friendship, understanding, cultural awareness, and educational and business opportunities.
